ALP Nicotine Pouches: Who Owns Them, Flavors, Strengths and ALP vs ZYN
ALP is one of the fastest-growing nicotine pouch brands in the US, and one of the most talked about, largely because of who’s behind it. Here’s what ALP is, who owns it, what’s in the range, and how it compares with ZYN.
Who owns ALP?
ALP was launched in November 2024 as a 50/50 joint venture between the Tucker Carlson Network and Turning Point Brands (TPB), a Louisville, Kentucky-based company that also makes FRE nicotine pouches. Tucker Carlson’s title at ALP is “Chief Product Tester”. TPB brings manufacturing, distribution and retail relationships.
That makes ALP a sister brand of FRE under the Turning Point Brands umbrella (see our FRE guide).
ALP flavors and strengths
According to Tobacco Insider’s brand overview:
- Launch flavors (2024): Chilled Mint, Mountain Wintergreen, Refreshing Chill, Tropical Fruit
- Frontier Collection (August 2026): Cowboy Coffee, Campfire Cinnamon, Sunset Mango
- Strengths: launched in 3mg, 6mg and 9mg, with 4mg, 8mg and 12mg options added since
- Can size: 20 pouches per can
- Format: marketed as a moist pouch
ALP has also sold caffeine pouches under a “Coffee Break” name. Check the label, since caffeine and nicotine products look similar.
Price and where to buy
At launch, ALP sold a 5-can bundle for $24.95 ($4.99 a can) on its own site. It’s also sold through convenience stores and delivery apps. Tobacco Insider reports ALP reached roughly 2% of the US pouch market by June 2026, and began a European expansion in July 2026.
Is ALP FDA-authorized?
As of the FDA’s list updated August 21, 2026, no ALP products appear among the 43 FDA-authorized nicotine pouches. The FDA’s page states that the products on its list are the only nicotine pouches that may be lawfully sold in the US. ALP is nonetheless widely sold (see how the FDA review process works).
ALP vs ZYN
| ALP | ZYN (classic) | |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | Tucker Carlson Network / Turning Point Brands | Philip Morris International (Swedish Match) |
| Format | Moist | Dry |
| Strengths | 3–12mg range | 3mg and 6mg core (1.5mg and 8mg added in 2026) |
| Pouches per can | 20 | 15 (moving to 20 for 3mg and 6mg in Q4 2026) |
| FDA authorization | Not on FDA list (Aug 2026) | 20 classic products authorized, plus modified-risk order |
ALP’s own marketing claims it is moister and better-tasting than ZYN. That’s a brand claim, not an independent test. The bigger practical differences are moisture (moist pouches tend to release nicotine and flavor faster, see dry vs moist) and FDA status. For more on ZYN, see what is ZYN.
Things to know before trying ALP
- Start at the lowest strength, especially if you’re coming from a dry pouch. Moist pouches can feel stronger at the same mg.
- Check whether it’s nicotine or caffeine before you buy.
- Buy only if you’re 21+. Federal law sets 21 as the minimum age for nicotine products.
Bottom line
ALP is a moist nicotine pouch brand launched in November 2024 as a 50/50 venture between Tucker Carlson’s company and Turning Point Brands, which also owns FRE. It comes in mint, wintergreen, fruit and newer coffee and cinnamon flavors, in strengths up to 12mg, 20 pouches per can. It was not on the FDA’s authorized list as of August 2026. If you’re switching from ZYN, start low, because the moister format can feel stronger.
