LUCY vs ZYN: Which Nicotine Pouch Is Right for You?

By PouchGuide Editorial Team · Published October 5, 2026

ZYN and LUCY are both tobacco-leaf-free nicotine pouches, but they’re very different products. ZYN is the market leader, made by Philip Morris International, with dry pouches and FDA-authorized products. LUCY is an independent US brand with moist pouches, higher strength options and a crushable Breakers line. Here’s how they compare.

Strength

LUCY’s pouches are moist, and moist pouches usually release nicotine faster than dry ones. So a LUCY 8mg can feel noticeably stronger than ZYN 6mg (see dry vs moist pouches). If you’re coming from ZYN 3mg, start with LUCY 4mg.

Flavor

LUCY’s Breakers are the biggest difference. You squeeze the pouch to pop a bead inside and release a burst of flavor. ZYN doesn’t have an equivalent.

Price and value

ZYN is cheaper per can and widely available in US stores. LUCY costs more and has 15 pouches per can. On lucy.co, a 5-can pack of Pouches is $29.95, and Breakers are $34.95. Retail prices vary (see how much ZYN costs).

FDA status

As of the FDA’s list updated August 21, 2026, the only FDA-authorized nicotine pouches are from ZYN and on!. ZYN’s 20 classic products (10 flavors in 3mg and 6mg) were authorized in January 2025 (see is ZYN FDA approved?).

LUCY products don’t appear on the list. The FDA’s page states that the products on its list are the only nicotine pouches that may be lawfully sold in the US. LUCY is nonetheless widely sold online.

Which should you choose?

Want to try LUCY? The LUCY Breakers Variety Pack includes all the Breakers flavors in one 6-can pack ($42.95). For the full brand overview, see what is LUCY? and our LUCY brand profile.

Bottom line

ZYN is the cheaper, dry, widely available choice, with FDA-authorized 3mg and 6mg products. LUCY is a pricier, moist, independent alternative in 4, 8 and 12mg, with crushable Breakers. If you’re switching from ZYN to LUCY, start one step lower than you think, because moist pouches tend to hit faster.
